How to deal with a nervous breakdown: 4 ways to release pressure and manage the breakdown

When we get overwhelmed with life and the negative thoughts start to creep up, it all gets too much and we breakdown. sometimes in tears of hysteria. We can all agree on that it is such a horrible feeling. Dealing with a breakdown is possible you just have to have a bit of hope.

1) Try and see the positive

Even when things get so bad and difficult, coming up with a single positive outcome can help manage the anxiety you feel. Looking at the glass half full even in the worst times in your life. May make you realize that it could have been worse. Or think that you can power through and that everything is going to be okay.

2) Know that you are not alone

Having a breakdown feels as if everything is zoning in on you and your problems are magnified. You feel as though nobody understands you, but trust that there is people who know exactly what you are going through and some that are going through it at the same time as you. Having that knowledge creates a sense of comfort and to know that you are not the only person battling their issues.

3) Breathe

Try breathing techniques, one effective method is 3 seconds breath in and 3 seconds breath out. Breathing slowly but surely calms down your brain that is is alert mode and helps control your thoughts and think about what solutions would help.

4) Go on a walk

Getting fresh air that hits your skin relaxes your body and mind. Walking gives you time and space to rationally manage your life. From breaking down due to university, work or social media. Going for a walk might help put into perspective why you are having a breakdown and what to do to make the situation better.
